E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness Recap w/ Kevin Owens – Hell in A Cell Analysis, Working with Shane McMahon, Rocky Road to WWE, More!

He says that his Universal Title run didn’t necessarily make him feel like the ‘top guy’ in the way he thought it would. When he transitioned into a series of matches with A.J. Styles he didn’t feel like he was putting out his best work at the time, and although a lot of fans loved those matches he’s not overly fond of them. Once he began working with Shane McMahon he felt like things were taken up a notch, and he’s feeling great about where he is right now.

Owens says that he has never stopped being a fan of the business. Whenever he stops to think about the things he’s accomplishing on a daily basis now it blows his mind. Even just having a discussion backstage with Shawn Michaels is an extraordinary experience for him because Michaels was the performer who made him want to be a professional wrestler in the first place.

Edge and Christian mention that Owens’ promo work has been at a very high level ever since arriving in WWE. Owens says he only got to work with Dusty Rhodes for 10 months, but he credits Dusty for helping him considerably with his promo work.

Owens informs that he and Sami Zayn had been travelling and working together for nearly a decade when Zayn got the call to sign with NXT. He was obviously very happy for his long time friend but it also made him concerned about his own future. He had been working the indies for a long period of time and he was ready to make the jump to the big leagues. Unfortunately that call wasn’t coming.
