The NWA has their eyes on a lot of talent. They just inked Pretty Boy Smooth to a deal, but the post to celebrate that received some unwanted attention.

EC3 took another public shot at the National Wrestling Alliance following a recent post from Pretty Boy Smooth. The caption to Smooth’s post simply said, “now the real work begins,” but that was turned around by EC3.

Pretty Boy Smooth shared that he was signing a deal with the company, posting a photo of himself reviewing paperwork. EC3 replied with a comment that many fans saw as a reminder that his issues with the NWA are still very much unresolved.

“That’s why you’ll succeed… everyone else lays off the gas pedal here”

This is not a one-off. Since leaving the NWA, EC3 has commented on talent posts connected to the company. He often implies that momentum fades after signing and that expectations rarely match reality.

EC3 joined the NWA in 2020 after his release from WWE. He was positioned as a top talent almost immediately, and je won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in 2021.

Behind the scenes, EC3’s relationship with the NWA began to break down. He has stated in interviews and podcasts that creative direction stalled, communication dropped, and plans changed without notice. He also pointed to issues with pay structure, limited touring opportunities, and what he viewed as a lack of follow-through from management.

That context is why his comment on Pretty Boy Smooth’s post landed the way it did. It was not aimed at Smooth personally as much as it was aimed at the pattern EC3 believes exists within Billy Corgan’s company.

We will have to see what happens next, but EC3’s return to NWA probably isn’t in the cards.
