The push to see The Dynamite Kid inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is now coming directly from his family.
Bronwyne Billington, daughter of the late Thomas “Dynamite Kid” Billington, has launched a petition on Change.org calling on WWE to honor her father with a Hall of Fame induction. In an emotional message attached to the petition, she outlined both the personal loss her family endured and the lasting legacy her father left on professional wrestling. Bronwyne opened by reflecting on the impact her father had on her life and the industry.
“Losing my father, known to the world as The Dynamite Kid, was one of the most challenging experiences of my life. As his eldest child, I carry his memory in my heart every day. His contributions to the world of professional wrestling were not only significant, but revolutionized the industry as a whole.”
She described him as more than just a performer, emphasizing his influence on generations of wrestlers. The petition highlights his technical ability and innovation, pointing to his time in Stampede Wrestling, his acclaimed matches in Japan, and his WWE run as one-half of The British Bulldogs.
“Wrestling fans worldwide remember him not just as a performer but as a pioneer who changed the face of the sport with his unique style and undeniable stage presence.”
“The Dynamite Kid, born Thomas Billington, was a trailblazer in the wrestling industry. Known for his technical prowess and high-flying moves, he was a major influence on countless wrestlers who followed in his footsteps.”
Bronwyne also addressed what she views as a glaring omission. She argued that honoring him would not only acknowledge his legacy but also give closure to fans and family members who have long hoped for this moment.
“His contributions have been recognized by fans, sports writers, and wrestlers alike, making his exclusion from the WWE Hall of Fame a notable oversight.”
“Inducting The Dynamite Kid would not only recognize his extraordinary contributions but also fulfill the wishes of countless fans who have long awaited this honor for him.”
“Please join me in calling on the WWE to honor The Dynamite Kid by inducting him into their Hall of Fame. Your signature can make all the difference, paying tribute to a legend who deserves a rightful place among wrestling’s greatest figures.”
Dynamite Kid passed away in December 2018 at the age of 60. Widely regarded as one of the most influential in-ring performers of his era, his legacy continues to be cited by modern stars who credit him for shaping the athletic, hard-hitting style seen in wrestling today.
With the petition now circulating, the question becomes whether WWE will respond to the renewed public call for recognition.
