Don’t expect to see the iconic Goldust character back in the ring anytime soon—or ever again. AEW veteran Dustin Rhodes has made it clear that the legendary persona is officially retired, putting an end to fan hopes of one last return.

The statement came in response to a fan on social media who pitched a quirky faction involving Goldust, Stardust (Cody Rhodes’ former WWE alter ego), and AAA’s Mr. Iguana. While the idea was met with amusement from some fans, Dustin wasn’t entertaining it. He replied directly and respectfully, closing the door once and for all.

“Goldust is retired. Sorry. Happy where I am at.”

The Goldust character became one of WWE’s most unique and talked-about personas during the Attitude Era, known for its boundary-pushing style, theatrical presentation, and surreal promos. But when Rhodes left WWE in 2019 and debuted in AEW with a career-redefining match against his brother Cody, he left that persona behind.

Since then, Rhodes has embraced his role in AEW as “The Natural,” balancing time in the ring with mentoring younger talent behind the scenes. He’s also been a key figure in AEW’s evolution, proving that you don’t need face paint or glitter to make a lasting impression.

Rhodes’ decision to retire the Goldust character speaks to where he is in his career now—focused, grounded, and thriving outside of WWE’s shadow.
