Drew McIntyre finally got the moment he’d been chasing for years—and it wasn’t just winning the WWE Championship again. This time, he got to do it in front of a live crowd, and it meant everything to him.

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, the Scottish powerhouse opened up about the emotional payoff that came with defeating Cody Rhodes at WWE’s Berlin event and then defending the title in Glasgow—where his wrestling journey began at age 15.

“Amazing. It felt absolutely unbelievable. I think a lot of people had got to the point where they thought Drew McIntyre wasn’t going to be world champion ever again—and was never going to hold the title in front of a live crowd—with the amount of times I’ve been screwed over over the past few years.”

“But I always believed. I just needed the right opportunity, and Shakespeare couldn’t have written it any better, the way it all went down.”

“I beat Cody Rhodes, the face of the company, in Berlin—which makes me the new face of the company. And my first title defense the next night was in Glasgow, Scotland… I was able to walk out there with the WWE Championship and fulfill the promise I made many years ago where I told everybody back home in Scotland, I’m going to return one day champion with the championship belt.”

And if that wasn’t personal enough—Drew also literally took the belt to bed.

“Since the wife wasn’t there, you know, it was a little lonely in the bed… it was my buddy who had the idea. It came from Messi—the biggest Instagram post of all time.”

“I gave it a good old wash first ‘cause I don’t want Cody’s dirty little germs on me… but then I slept with it. Then I woke up with it… I legitimately slept with the title.”

McIntyre’s rise back to the top is one of the most intense stories in WWE right now—pandemic setbacks, personal promises, and a whole lot of chaos. But for Drew, this run isn’t just about wins. It’s about redemption on his terms.

Drew McIntyre finally got the fan-filled coronation he was denied in 2020—and he made sure the world knew it. From Berlin to Glasgow to the foot of his bed, the WWE Championship is exactly where he wants it.

What do you think—was Drew’s win the right move for WWE? And how do you feel about him sleeping with the title? Sound off below—we’re all in on this one.
