Drew McIntyre Reveals Surprising Locker Room Reaction to His Eyepatch

Drew McIntyre has been wearing an eyepatch since Damian Priest attacked him on the March 28 episode of WWE SmackDown, where real glass ended up getting in his eye. In fact, McIntyre has now revealed the locker room reaction to him wearing an eyepatch.

While speaking on the Getting Over podcast, Drew McIntyre revealed how the locker room reacted when he wore an eyepatch. At first, some of the guys started laughing and joking around, doing pirate voices.

However, one of them stopped and admitted that Drew McIntyre was actually pulling off the look, which surprised them. What started as a joke turned into them realizing it suited him.

“It was interesting when I wore it. In the locker room, a couple of the guys started kind of laughing initially, doing their little pirate voices. And then one of them stopped and said, ‘Damn it.’ I said, ‘You know, what’s the matter?’ He went, ‘You’re actually pulling it off.’ So they were upset when they started initially trying to rib me, then said, ‘Actually, it works for you.'”

Beyond the jokes, McIntyre also talked about the serious nature of his injury, though he chose not to give away too many details, especially since Damian Priest was involved in the segment.

“I landed on the windshield and, um, yep, some stuff got in my eye. And that’s about as much detail as I’ll give right now — I don’t want to give too much away, especially to Priest. I really want to make WrestleMania in some capacity, but yeah, I got some things in there — some debris that wasn’t supposed to be in there.”

Thankfully, WWE has just now confirmed that Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre will be facing off against each other at WrestleMania 41 in singles competition, so now fans no longer have to worry whether The Scottish Warrior will compete at the Showcase of the Immortals. Therefore, we will have to wait and see if McIntyre will be able to beat Priest at the event.
