Drew McIntyre is more than determined to make 2025 his year, and he shocked fans after undergoing a last-minute knee procedure where he had fluid drained from his knee, before the February 21st edition of SmackDown. The Scottish Warrior has now confirmed his physical condition following the procedure.
While speaking to Sports Illustrated’s The TakeDown, McIntyre explained that his knee wasn’t bending properly, so he decided to have the fluid removed. While the doctor wasn’t entirely happy about doing it so close to match time, it was deemed medically safe.
“I couldn’t bend it fully, unfortunately,” McIntyre said. “I told the doctor, listen, let’s get this fluid out. He wasn’t exactly over the moon about it, but medically it was safe or we wouldn’t have done it in the first place.”
McIntyre didn’t want anything to hinder his performance and was focused on delivering in the ring. He made it clear that he wasn’t going to let the aftereffects slow him down. After the procedure, he stepped into the ring and took care of business with Jimmy Uso.
“To put it simply, I’m not a p****. A lot of the guys are now. I said get that out. I’ve gotta show to put on. I’ve got a performance to do and this is affecting me. So we took that fluid out. I got in the ring, I did my job. I left Jimmy not looking like a winner, that’s for sure.”
Drew McIntyre says he has no personal concerns with his knee heading into Elimination Chamber. Even if there were any issues, he won’t let anything stop him from competing against top stars like Cena and Punk this weekend.
The Scottish Warrior made it clear that he doesn’t expect anything to be handed to him. He plans to keep proving why he belongs at the top, no matter what it takes, even if he has to push through injuries to be in the match.
“You don’t have to hand me a thing. I’ll keep taking and taking and taking and showing why I belong on top. And that’s a match I’m not gonna miss if I have to hold myself together with duct tape.”
Drew McIntyre will be competing in the Elimination Chamber match against John Cena, CM Punk, Damian Priest, Seth Rollins and Logan Paul. He clearly has his work cut out for him but McIntyre is determined to win the bout no matter what issues he faces, so we’ll have to see if he will be successful in the end.
