Drew McIntyre’s parking lot beatdown on the March 28 episode of WWE SmackDown looked brutal—and now we know it wasn’t all TV magic.

PWInsider reports that the moment where McIntyre was choke slammed through a car window by Damian Priest was legit enough to leave him with real glass in his eye.

What fans initially thought was a tongue-in-cheek jab at AEW—especially after Drew tweeted, “That was real glass… It got in my eye”—turned out to be the real deal. While social media lit up with speculation that the post was a nod to the infamous CM Punk and Jack Perry “real glass” drama from AEW All In 2023, sources confirm that the glass in Drew’s eye actually happened.

The entire segment had an edge to it from the jump. After cracking a joke backstage with Lewis Capaldi, McIntyre dropped a bold promo and claimed, “Priest doesn’t have the balls to show up tonight.” Moments later, he found out just how wrong he was.

Damian Priest blindsided him in the parking garage, delivering a vicious assault that included tossing Drew into a parked car and choke slamming him directly through a window—no sugar glass involved.

Priest coldly added, “I’m done. Are there any other jokes? Rest in peace,” before walking off. CM Punk added salt to the wound by walking past McIntyre’s body without so much as a glance, further amping up the drama.

The glass-to-the-eye moment, now confirmed as real, gives the segment a new level of intensity. WWE is known for scripted violence, but this one got just a little too real.

UPDATE: Apparently it wasn’t glass in his eye.
