It’s official—Drew McIntyre is now a member of WWE SmackDown, and he wasted no time making his presence felt. Just hours before tonight’s show, WWE posted footage of SmackDown GM Nick Aldis formally welcoming McIntyre to the blue brand, sealing the deal with a handshake.
“It’s good to be here,” McIntyre said, before making it clear he’s all about business.
“You see this? You see how simple this is? Even though I’m a gigantic Superstar, I don’t need the pomp and circumstance. I don’t need the ending celebration or stupid fireworks going off for five minutes. All I need is what this man’s gonna give me—someone I’ve known since 2005 and I can trust—an opportunity without any BS.”
Aldis wasted no time delivering that opportunity, confirming that McIntyre will step into the ring tonight against LA Knight and Jimmy Uso in a triple threat match, with a Men’s Elimination Chamber spot on the line.
This announcement comes after McIntyre’s backstage frustrations following the Royal Rumble, where a timing issue reportedly caused his elimination sequence to get thrown off. Now, with his SmackDown move locked in, McIntyre has a clear path to WrestleMania 41—but first, he’ll have to go through LA Knight and Jimmy Uso.
