Drew McIntyre has heard the chatter—and he’s not holding back.
As WWE builds toward WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, some fans have voiced their disappointment with a possible matchup between McIntyre and Damian Priest. But The Scottish Warrior has zero patience for the criticism, especially from those jumping to conclusions without letting the story play out.
Speaking with The Daily Star, McIntyre went off on the backlash, defending the long-term storytelling WWE has built since last year’s WrestleMania. “I appreciated when the fans’ reaction was, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s Priest and Drew, there’s nothing there.’ I’m like, bloody hell, give us a chance to tell the story.”
McIntyre pointed to last year’s betrayal as the origin point for their slow-burning rivalry. “The thing with Priest has been going on since last year’s WrestleMania when he cashed in on me after I was assaulted by Punk,” he said. “He doesn’t know how to succeed unless it is at my expense.”
He didn’t stop there. McIntyre unloaded on Priest for his recent actions in the Elimination Chamber match. “I Claymore Cena. Instead of going, ‘I’ll let Drew pin Cena first,’ he eliminates me. It’s the only way he knows how to succeed because he is a vulture. A parasite. A big emo vulture.”
With their paths destined to collide, McIntyre is ready to settle the score—especially if it happens on the biggest stage of them all. “Finally, he’s got my attention because they’ve got nothing else. I stomped him in his big stupid head last week and if he wants to keep coming back for more, if it goes all the way to Mania, it’s a year-in-the-making story and he deserves the biggest stage of all to get his stupid looking arse kicked.”
Six matches are already locked in for WrestleMania 41, but if McIntyre and Priest are added to the card, expect fireworks—and not just in the ring.
