Drew McIntyre took a break from fighting in the ring to show support for a fan fighting the biggest battle of his life. After a heartbreaking post from a wrestling fan announcing a terminal brain cancer diagnosis, McIntyre responded with encouragement—quoting one of the most memorable lines from Rocky Balboa.
On October 26, Twitter user @Jordan_WATP revealed his diagnosis after a recent hospital stay. He explained that treatment would begin soon, with the focus on maintaining quality of life. In his message, he wrote:
“Not one for getting too personal but thought a tweet would be easier than messaging everyone I speak too on here. Hard to find the ‘correct’ words to put it across but October 15th after a stay in hospital I was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.”
Jordan said radiotherapy will start in early November, but test results are still pending. He closed the post with faith and determination, adding:
“Hopefully still be filling your feeds with nonsense for many years but we will see how it goes. Will keep the faith and no surrender 💪 ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength’ – Philippians 4:13 ✝️❤️”
McIntyre saw the message and delivered a line that’s inspired millions—one that speaks directly to staying strong in the face of overwhelming adversity. He didn’t stop there. McIntyre added a personal touch with a nod to their shared football loyalty.
“Remember, it’s not about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward.”
“Keep fighting & moving forward mate, I want you here for when Rangers get back on top (even if I’ve got to manage them myself).”
Wrestlers are often seen as larger-than-life characters, but moments like this show that the fight isn’t always in the ring. McIntyre’s message was simple, powerful, and exactly what fans needed to see—proof that support can come in 280 characters or less.
