Drew McIntyre has been wearing an eye patch ever since Damian Priest attacked him on the March 28 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he got “real glass” in his eye. With WrestleMania 41 getting closer, McIntyre has confirmed his status for the event following his eye injury.

While speaking to The Overlap US, Drew McIntyre was asked whether he would be able to compete at WrestleMania or if it would depend on how his eye healed. He responded by saying he had made it clear to the right people that there was no chance he would miss WrestleMania.

McIntyre pointed out that the person in charge, Triple H, knows firsthand what it’s like to fight through serious injuries, having once torn both quads and continued on. McIntyre believes Triple H understands how important WrestleMania is and would likely let things play out. Regardless, McIntyre said he will do whatever it takes to be at the event, no matter what.

“Let’s just say this—I’ve said to the right people, there is no way in hell I’m going to miss WrestleMania. And the people in charge—specifically someone in charge—has fought through quads being torn off his body. I’m talking about Triple H. He understands what it’s like to be in the ring, and he understands how big WrestleMania is. And if it comes down to it, I’ve got the feeling he’s just going to let it go. But I’m going to do whatever I have to do to be at WrestleMania, no matter what.”

PWInsider had previously reported that Drew McIntyre got medical help after Damian Priest’s attack on the March 28 episode of WWE SmackDown. At first, there were claims that glass had to be removed from his eye, but WWE sources later confirmed that it wasn’t actually glass.

When McIntyre returned to the U.S., it was clarified that he did get treatment, but the object taken from his eye wasn’t what people originally thought. WWE medical staff checked him before he left the arena, and though he was seen backstage wearing an eye patch, he was okay. While McIntyre initially told people it was glass, further exams showed that wasn’t true.

Drew McIntyre even recently underwent an eye check-up. Nevertheless, fans are relieved to know that McIntyre will ensure he will compete at WrestleMania 41 no matter what, so we’ll have to see how he will fare against Damian Priest at the Showcase of the Immortals.
