Drew McIntyre wasted no time making in impact during the February 7th edition of Friday Night SmackDown as he beat LA Knight and Jimmy Uso to qualify for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match. Unsurprisingly, he called out John Cena for politicking his way into the Elimination Chamber match as well.
Drew McIntyre took to Twitter and uploaded a video of himself in an interview after SmackDown, where McIntyre talked about his victory. He said all he needed was a fair chance instead of dealing with surprise attacks and interference. He also mentioned the backstage politics and drama on RAW, calling it a hard place for anyone trying to be honest like he was.
McIntyre made it clear that he wouldn’t talk his way into the Elimination Chamber or use his influence like John Cena and called out Cena for the same. Instead, he wanted to earn his spot the right way by working hard and beating two of WWE’s top stars. He praised Jimmy Uso’s effort and pointed out that even though LA Knight tried to take his spot, he still won. In the end, McIntyre said it was a great night for him.
“All I ever needed was a fair chance—not to go out there, try to handle my business with one person, and then get jumped from behind by someone else. I’ve listened to all the politicking and backstage backstabbing on RAW. It’s a minefield trying to tell the truth on your own.
I’m not going to try to politic my way into the Elimination Chamber or use my stroke like Cena. I’m going to do it the right way—the Drew way. Work hard and beat two of the top contenders in WWE.
Jimmy gave his best effort, and as much as LA Knight tried to call his shots and force his way in, I still won. It’s a good night to be Drew.”
This comes after John Cena announced his entry into the Men’s Elimination Chamber match following his failure to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match, as Jey Uso would win the match instead.
We’ll have to wait and see if The Scottish Warrior can win the Elimination Chamber again this year and secure his spot at WrestleMania 41. He already won last year’s Chamber match and has had success on WWE’s biggest stage before, so he already knows what to do in the end.
