Drew McIntyre isn’t entertaining the idea of competing in a multi-man match at WrestleMania 42.
With reports suggesting Cody Rhodes is a “virtual lock” for the Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 42 — and speculation swirling about Jacob Fatu possibly being added to make it a Triple Threat — McIntyre has now addressed the rumors directly.
While speaking on the Babyfaces podcast on February 28, 2026, McIntyre was asked how he would feel if his WrestleMania title defense turned into a multi-man match with the odds stacked against him.
Instead of dodging the question, McIntyre went straight to the structure of WWE’s road to WrestleMania: “I would probably go to management and say, ‘What was the point of the Elimination Chamber?’”
He made it clear that, in his mind, the Chamber match exists for one reason — to determine a single, definitive challenger. McIntyre then took a direct shot at the idea that Cody Rhodes is already penciled in.
“The whole idea is whoever the best man is wins, then faces the champion at WrestleMania. So the best man — which is obviously not Cody — is going to win that Chamber and go fight me at WrestleMania.”
He didn’t stop there. If WWE pivots to a multi-man format, McIntyre says it would undermine the entire concept of the Elimination Chamber.
“If it was any different than that, I would wonder what the point of the Elimination Chamber was.”
With Elimination Chamber deciding the number-one contender, McIntyre’s stance reinforces a traditional structure: one winner, one challenger and one title match. Now the limelight shifts to who actually survives the Chamber — and whether WWE sticks to a straight-up one-on-one match or reshapes the main event picture.
