Drew McIntyre isn’t interested in sharing the limelight at WrestleMania 42 — and he’s making it clear he believes the title match should be strictly one-on-one.

While speaking to Complex Graps on March 4, 2026, McIntyre addressed rumors that WWE could place him in a multi-man scenario at WrestleMania. The Scottish Warrior wasn’t buying that idea at all, questioning why the Elimination Chamber even happened if it doesn’t lead to a singles championship match.

“The way I see it, why did we have Elimination Chamber if it’s not going to lead to a one-on-one match? Right now it’s me and Randy Orton.”

McIntyre explained that his focus is on the upcoming Undisputed WWE Championship match with Cody Rhodes. In his mind, the path to WrestleMania isn’t locked in yet — and he intends to change the outcome.

“I’ve got to go into Friday, get through Cody, and I say it’s a breach of contract. Anyone but Cody. So I’m going in on Friday with a different game plan.”

According to McIntyre, his goal is simple: walk into WrestleMania as champion and face Orton in a straight-up match. And if McIntyre has his way, that’s exactly how the biggest show of the year should look.

“I have to get through Cody and everyone else, leave that show as champion, and walk into WrestleMania as champion for a one-on-one match. Every title match should be one-on-one at WrestleMania. And it’s going to be Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton once I get through Cody Rhodes.”

The comments come as reports suggest WWE is leaning toward Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 after Orton secured a title opportunity by winning the Elimination Chamber match.

If that direction sticks, it leaves McIntyre outside the title picture. According to Bodyslam, WWE has internally discussed a potential WrestleMania match between McIntyre and Jacob Fatu if Rhodes vs. Orton becomes official.

But McIntyre clearly isn’t planning to step aside quietly. In true Drew fashion, he’s calling his shot — saying the road to WrestleMania should end with him and Orton fighting one-on-one for the biggest prize in WWE.

Now the question is whether WWE sticks to its rumored plans… or if Drew McIntyre forces his way into the WrestleMania title picture. What do you think about Drew McIntyre’s stance? Should WrestleMania championship matches always be one-on-one? Drop your thoughts.
