Drew McIntyre’s future might include one last ride with 3MB—but fans shouldn’t hold their breath unless he’s ready to hang it up.
While speaking to Sports Illustrated, McIntyre opened up about the idea of reuniting with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater after recently attending Jinder’s wedding.
The 3MB trio, once viewed as WWE’s biggest comedy act, has experienced a shift in fan perception over time—and McIntyre sees it too. But if they ever come back, it’s going to be under one condition: it’s his retirement party.
“Yeah, there’s going to be. I tell Heath and Jinder all the time. I was like, you know, I’m going to do what I got to do. I’m going to, as I mentioned, get what’s mine. But eventually, when I feel like it’s getting close to time, you know, I’m about to say goodbye—that’s when I throw my mates a bone. We reform 3MB. I don’t take any bumps. Heath takes all the bumps. Jinder might take a few in there. I’ll stand on the apron, air guitar like hell, have a good old time.”
McIntyre also got real about how fans view 3MB today compared to their original run. What was once mocked is now remembered fondly by fans who grew up watching them.
“And the fun thing about nostalgia is everyone believes we’re like The Shield. The way I talk to people when I’m out meeting all the fans at all the big events, they’re like, ‘God, I love 3MB. You guys were amazing.’ Whatever. And they mean it. I can tell when somebody’s lying or not. I’m like a human lie detector—learned it growing up in this industry.”
“And I’m like, wow, that’s interesting. Because I guess they would’ve been kids at the time. They looked at things differently. They weren’t on the internet complaining about everything. They weren’t so jaded. And they grew up with 3MB being seen differently. So yeah, I’ll give everybody a treat. I’ll give my boys a payday—and boom—I’ll disappear into the night, never to be seen again.”
McIntyre made it clear the reunion isn’t about nostalgia for him—it’s about closing the book on his terms, giving Heath and Jinder one last payday, and strumming the air guitar for old time’s sake.
