Drew McIntyre isn’t just open to facing The Rock—he’d welcome the match with open arms, especially if he’s holding WWE gold

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, McIntyre addressed the dream match scenario and made it personal fast. When asked what he’d say if The Rock challenged him while he was WWE Champion, McIntyre didn’t hesitate.

“Yes. Is the sky blue? Is the grass green? He’s The Rock. I mean, personally… he’s DJ to me. We’ve built this relationship over a long time. He’s always believed in me, and he’s given me these great opportunities, such as being the face of Project Rock, which was an incredibly successful campaign. I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s ever done for me.”

McIntyre then addressed the heat he usually throws at The Bloodline, which includes The Rock. But in this case, he made it clear there’s a major exception.

“Some people say to me, ‘But Drew, you hate the Bloodline so much. Why do you like The Rock?’ I said, ‘No, I have feelings about certain people that have screwed me over and hurt me. It could be anybody, but it’s mostly The Bloodline. But The Rock has always helped me out. He’s always looked out for Drew McIntyre.’”

He closed by saying the idea of working with The Rock inside the ring would be a perfect way to bring their real-life connection to the screen.

“And if we could do business together on screen—since we’ll be doing business off-screen—that would be a dream come true.”

McIntyre’s respect for The Rock is clearly deep, but the idea of that match actually happening could be even bigger than anything they’ve done outside the ring. And if it goes down, McIntyre won’t be holding back.
