Drew McIntyre Accuses Cody Rhodes of “Faking It Till He Made It”

Drew McIntyre didn’t hold back when the conversation shifted from John Cena to Cody Rhodes. After completely dismissing Cena as a viable opponent, McIntyre turned his attention to the Undisputed WWE Champion—and while he gave Rhodes credit, it came with a loaded caveat.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, McIntyre acknowledged that Rhodes earned his position in WWE, but added that Cody wasn’t always the real deal. In fact, according to McIntyre, Rhodes had to bluff his way to the top at first.

“Cody is everything, you know, basically that he says he is. I know underneath it all, he has faked it till he made it—and I’ve been guilty of that in the past myself.”

Despite that jab, McIntyre admitted that Rhodes now walks the walk, calling his work ethic and commitment legit.

“He does put the work in. He does go the extra mile in every possible way every time. It’s not an act. That really is him, no matter what anyone thinks about it. And I have my own feelings about it. But he does work his absolute ass off. He is that talented and he’s earned everything he’s got.”

But Drew made it clear: just because Rhodes is at the top now doesn’t mean he’s staying there.

“He’s the best we’ve got right now—until I beat him. Because I know I’m the best we’ve got. And I think he knows deep down I’m the best we’ve got.”

McIntyre continues to build his narrative as WWE’s most dangerous threat, aiming directly at Rhodes while calling out the insecurities he believes lie beneath Cody’s polished exterior. It’s not just about winning a title—it’s about taking a throne McIntyre says was never fully earned in the first place.
