Dominik Mysterio may be caught in a war of pride in AAA, but WWE is still waiting for him to get cleared for action.
According to Fightful Select, Dominik has been sidelined with an injury since December 20, just after recapturing the WWE Intercontinental Championship on November 29. Despite holding the title, he hasn’t defended it since, and his status has remained somewhat of a mystery—until now.
“WWE is hopeful that Dominik Mysterio will be back in the ring in the near future. He's been sidelined with an injury since December 20, but hasn't been able to defend the Intercontinental Title since winning it back November 29.”
The report adds that despite being physically unable to compete, Dominik has continued to appear regularly on both WWE and AAA programming, where he’s been involved in ongoing storylines, including one that may take a dramatic turn.
Just this past week on the February 7 episode of AAA on FOX, Dominik was confronted by Hijo del Vikingo, who challenged him to raise the stakes for their March 14 AAA Mega Championship match at Rey de Reyes.
Vikingo didn’t just want gold—he wanted humiliation. In a throwback to classic lucha libre tradition, he proposed that Dominik put his hair on the line in a stipulation that would turn the title match into a fight for pride, legacy, and honor.
The two are set for a contract signing on the February 21 episode of AAA on FOX, where fans expect a final answer. But with Dominik’s in-ring status still uncertain, all eyes are on whether WWE’s medical team will greenlight his return in time for the match to happen as planned.
Dominik’s feud with Vikingo has already gotten personal. If he agrees to the hair vs. title stipulation—and gets cleared to compete—it could be one of the most emotional showdowns of the year in AAA.
Do you think Dominik should accept Vikingo’s challenge and put his hair on the line? Or should he focus on getting healthy and defending his Intercontinental Title first? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
