Dominik Mysterio Welcomes John Cena Challenging For WWE IC Title

There may never be another WWE Superstar like Dominik Mysterio. He was eight years old during the 2005 storyline in which Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio feuded over custody of him. Now in 2025, Dirty Dom has a title run of his own, and likely many more to come. This could also come with a historic match or two along the way.

Dominik Mysterio is not shying away from a possible match with John Cena. Cena is nearing retirement with only a few appearances left on his current WWE run, and fans are discussing one final shot at a title that has never been part of his resume. The Intercontinental Championship is currently held by Dominik, putting him in the conversation.

In a recent Beyond The Match interview, Dominik Mysterio was asked about his upcoming title defense against Penta on WWE RAW. The idea of John Cena stepping up for a challenge also came up, and Dominik did not hesitate to accept that match.

“If he comes and knocking I mean I’m here. Dirty Dom is here. Judgment Day is here. John Cena already knows. I’ve said it multiple times. If you want some come get some. Double Champ is here.”

Before this happened in the interview, Dominik Mysterio was talking about the pressure of holding two championships. After all, he is the current AAA Mega Champion and WWE IC Champion.

Dirty Dom said it is heavy and not easy being the greatest of all time. When Cena’s name came up, he welcomed the idea. This is very interesting, because WWE has reportedly kicked around the idea of a final title run for The Greatest of All Time. If Cena wants to make history before retirement, Dominik may be standing in the way.
