Dominik Mysterio isn’t holding back when it comes to WWE’s recent acquisition of AAA.
During a conversation with Jim Varsallone, the younger Mysterio expressed his shock over WWE’s purchase of the Mexican wrestling powerhouse, but he’s already eyeing the opportunity to take a shot at his father’s legacy.
“Honestly, it was very surprising,” Dominik said. “WWE had the small partnership with TNA, so in my head, I would’ve assumed that they would have done another type of partnership with AAA. But they actually purchased AAA. To me, that’s so huge.”
Dominik didn’t stop there. Shifting into full heel mode, he laid out his plans to stomp all over Rey Mysterio’s accomplishments in AAA. “For me, before I even started wrestling and training, it was always a dream of mine to be able to wrestle in Mexico with AAA… I’m going to go down to AAA and shit all over Rey Mysterio so the name that you remember coming out of AAA, Mexico, WWE, whatever, TNA, anything — you hear the word Mysterio, you think Dominik Mysterio,” he said.
Dominik made it clear he’s ready to use WWE’s acquisition of AAA as a way to cement his legacy and overshadow his father’s historic run in Mexico.
WWE’s purchase of AAA has opened the door for Dominik Mysterio to redefine what the Mysterio name means in Mexico. Whether he can truly eclipse Rey’s legacy remains to be seen, but Dominik’s intentions are clear.
