Dominik Mysterio may be facing time on the sidelines after reportedly suffering a legitimate shoulder injury during the main event of AAA Guerra de Titanes in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The Judgment Day star teamed with El Grande Americano to take on Rey Fenix and his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, in a match that was already packed with drama. But it was the closing moments that may have serious consequences moving forward.
According to Bryan Alvarez, Dominik’s injury occurred when he took a DDT from his father near the end of the match. The landing appeared rough, and it was clear something was wrong as he exited the ring barely able to move his arm.
“Dom injured his shoulder taking the DDT from his dad near the end of tonight’s main event,” Alvarez reported. “Based on how he landed, my presumption is it’s likely a shoulder separation, which depending on the severity could be a short-term injury, or worst case scenario surgery. But we won’t know anything until he gets evaluated. He could barely use the arm at all.”
The finish of the match involved interference from Penta, who reappeared after being removed from the match earlier due to an injury angle. Penta stopped El Grande Americano from using a weapon, then used a hidden foreign object in his own mask to headbutt Dominik, setting up Rey Mysterio to hit the 619 and score the pin on his son.
After the bell, a frustrated and clearly injured Dominik shoved Americano and walked to the back alone, clutching his shoulder. Moments later, Americano shook hands with Rey Mysterio before exiting on his own.
With the Royal Rumble set for January 31, 2026, this injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. If surgery is required, it could knock Dominik out of action during WWE’s busiest season of the year.
Will Dominik be cleared in time for the Road to WrestleMania, or is this setback more serious than it looks? Drop your thoughts below and wish him well.
