Dominik Mysterio first appeared on WWE television in 2005 during a dramatic storyline between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, where the two superstars battled over custody of Dominik. In fact, Dominik has now revealed how much he was actually paid for being part of that storyline.

While speaking on the Intoxicados podcast, Dominik Mysterio revealed how much he was paid for being part of the iconic 2005 storyline between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio.

As a kid, he remembered getting paid $5,000 for one of the events. Normally his parents wouldn’t tell him how much he earned, they would just say they were saving it for him. In this case, they told him because he had asked about it, knowing something was coming his way.

Excited about the money, Dominik Mysterio decided to go to Toys R Us. He bought himself a bike and a few Frankenstein head figures, since he had always been into old-school Universal Monsters and he noted that the total expense was $300 to $400 at most.

“I was getting paid, so I was like, something’s coming out of this. Here’s the story. Here’s the story behind it. So, I got paid—actually, I’ll tell you exactly how much I got paid. I remember, I was a kid—five grand.

Damn. Five grand. And that was just for one, that was just for one of the events. I remember my parents told me—’cause normally they wouldn’t tell me, they’d just say they put it to the side for me, like ‘here you go.’ But they told me about this one, ’cause I was asking. I was like, ‘Hey, how much did I get paid for this?’ Like I knew something was coming.

So they told me. They go, ‘You got paid five grand.’ I was like, ‘Oh cool, let’s go to Toys R Us.’ So I go to Toys R Us. As a kid, I get myself like a bike. They had these little, like weird… I’ve always been into old school Universal Monsters. So they had these Frankenstein heads, and I was like, ‘Yeah, let me get a couple of those.'”

Later that day, he asked his mother if they could go to Target, but she told him that was it he had already used up all of his spending money. Looking back, Dominik joked that since he never went to college, the rest of that money probably ended up in his sister’s college fund.

“Long story short, it totaled out to maybe 400 bucks. Yeah. Maybe 300. Maybe. Maybe if that. And as soon as we got home, I was like, ‘Hey, can we go to Target?’ And my mom goes, ‘That’s it. That’s all your money.’ I mean, I don’t know. I never went to college. I don’t know if she got—like, it probably all went to my sister’s college fund.”

Dominik Mysterio is now obviously one of WWE’s biggest stars since he is the Intercontinental Champion, but his getting $5,000 as a kid is definitely a big deal. Regardless, Mysterio wouldn’t change anything about how his storyline with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero turned out and fans will have to accept that.
