Dominik Mysterio managed to retain the AAA Mega Championship over the weekend, but the physical toll from that match has already caught up with him.

During the March 16, 2026 episode of Monday Night Raw, commentary revealed that Mysterio has not been medically cleared for in-ring competition following his violent title defense against El Hijo del Vikingo at AAA Rey de Reyes. The match took place on Saturday, March 14 in Puebla, Mexico and featured No Disqualification rules, which led to a chaotic and weapon-heavy battle.

The championship match quickly escalated into a brutal fight as both competitors used kendo sticks, steel chairs, and other weapons throughout the contest. The action spilled around the arena and several outside parties became involved as the situation continued to spiral.

Despite the chaos, Mysterio ultimately managed to escape with the title. He finished Vikingo off by striking him with a steel chair before connecting with his signature 619 and frog splash to secure the victory and retain the AAA Mega Championship.

However, the damage from that match appears to have taken a toll. Raw commentary noted that Mysterio has not been cleared for competition since the bout, suggesting the physical punishment from the No Disqualification match left him banged up. Even though the injury has temporarily sidelined him from competing in the ring, Mysterio still holds the AAA Mega Championship after surviving one of the most chaotic matches of the Rey de Reyes event.

Do you think Dominik Mysterio’s brutal match with El Hijo del Vikingo was worth the damage if it meant keeping the AAA Mega Championship? Let us know what you think and share your thoughts in the comments.
