Dominik Mysterio isn’t just keeping the Mysterio legacy alive — he’s determined to take full ownership of it.
The WWE Intercontinental Champion appeared on Busted Open Radio and didn’t hold back when the topic of facing his father in AAA came up. When asked whether he had ever squared off against Rey Mysterio in Mexico’s AAA promotion — or whether such a match could happen — Dominik flipped the script by downplaying his father’s relevance and positioning himself as the headliner.
“Never. [We’ve] never wrestled in Triple A together, never faced each other. If I’m involved, it’s the greatest number one match of all time. It’ll be their biggest draw. Could it happen? I don’t see why not. If I become the Mega Campeón for Triple A, I don’t see why my father, the leprechaun, shouldn’t be coming down to me and begging for a title shot. He’s been hurt with his injury since WrestleMania, right? So if he wants to come back, and I’m the Mega Campeón and the Intercontinental Champion as well—he has never fought for that title when it comes to the Mega Campeón for Triple A—so if I get my hands on it, I’m sure he’s going to want to put his name in the history books. But he’s got to go through me, the greatest Mysterio of all time.”
If that wasn’t bold enough, Dominik didn’t shy away from the idea of ripping his dad’s mask off in front of a rabid AAA crowd — a move that could get someone chased out of the building. But according to Dirty Dom, the crowd would love it.
“Of course. The people would celebrate me.”
Dominik continues to fire shots at his legendary father, raising the stakes for a potential showdown south of the border. And with AAA always looking for a major headliner, this family feud could go international in a major way.
