The pro wrestling world has seen many people come in from music to try their hand at sports entertainment. Jelly Roll, Bad Bunny and more have stepped into the ring. Now, DJ Khaled is getting ready for his own kind of action.
DJ Khaled is stepping into the wrestling world again, this time in a commercial built around pro wrestling that he says will premiere on the same day as this year’s Super Bowl. Khaled posted about the project on social media and shared footage of himself inside a wrestling ring as part of the shoot.
In the clip, DJ Khaled appears in-ring alongside AEW coach and wrestler KM, also known as Kevin Matthews. Matthews has credits outside wrestling as well, including work on SNL, The Daily Show, and The Equalizer, along with acting and stunt roles on other projects.
DJ Khaled’s involvement in this setting isn’t random. He has a record of crossing into pro wrestling, especially WWE.
Khaled’s most known WWE appearance came during WrestleMania 36 weekend in 2020, when he served as host for the second night of the event. That role made him part of WWE’s biggest annual show and put him on-screen throughout the broadcast.
While this new commercial is wrestling-themed rather than a match appearance, it keeps Khaled tied to the industry at a time when wrestling promotions are pushing harder than ever into crossover marketing. With a Super Bowl-day release, it is certain to get some attention as well.
