Diamond Dallas Page is opening up about the emotional moment he found out his close friend Hulk Hogan had passed away — and the story hit fans hard.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, DDP revealed that he was in the middle of a wellness event for his DDP Yoga program when he received the news. Despite feeling physically drained and battling an eye infection, DDP showed up to support his community. But what started as a positive moment ended with shocking news. He recalled how his wife Paige pulled him aside unexpectedly after a group photo:
“But I was on the stage and I was grabbing my stuff after the big group picture we took and everything, and Paige comes up to me and she grabs me. She goes, ‘Come here. Come here.’ I go, ‘Well, let me get my bag.’ She goes, ‘No, no, come here.’ I go, ‘Babe… what the hell did I do?’ I thought it was something I did wrong or something because my wife and I never argue — ever.”
Page continued, describing the surreal moment that followed:
“But she was like stern with me. I didn’t get it. And then she took me in the back room with my business partner, Steve, and they told me. And that took my breath away, bro. Like… and I knew Hulk was facing some adversity, but he always kicks out, you know? He always kicks out. So, that kind of knocked me on my ass.”
Before the conversation, DDP had nearly skipped the event due to feeling sick, but something told him to push through:
“I’ve got a virus in my eye… there’s nothing you can do. They got some kind of gauze that I’m getting today, hopefully. But I really felt like dog sht, right? And everybody’s expecting me to come, but, you know, I just can’t kick out. And right before I say, ‘F**k it, man,’ you again, you know, like I… my doc told me to just ice the eye… I kicked out. I went there. I prepared something really amazing for the one group of people. And I’ll go back again tomorrow and do it again.”*
The WWE Universe is still processing the loss of Hulk Hogan, who passed away on July 24 at age 71 after suffering cardiac arrest. Stories like DDP’s are a reminder of how deeply connected Hogan was to those around him, even in his final days.
