Deonna Purrazzo has already conquered the wrestling world as “The Virtuosa,” but now she’s setting her sights on something far bigger—politics.
The AEW and ROH star recently revealed she’s seriously exploring a future beyond the ring, one that could see her trading in wrestling boots for public office. In fact, she recently took a major step in that direction by completing a Senate internship during the summer of 2025.
While speaking with Jim Varsallone, Purrazzo opened up about her journey from suplexes to Senate floors:
“So my master’s degree is in political science, and this summer, I was really fortunate to take an internship in a Senate office, and I had such a great time learning about something that is not wrestling-related.”
She explained that life after WWE in 2020 gave her space to rediscover herself—and that included academic goals she never imagined for herself growing up.
“I would have never thought 20 years ago that I’d be studying political science, working in a Senate office, or saying that one day I’m going to be the first female governor of Florida.”
That might sound ambitious, but if you’ve followed Purrazzo’s wrestling career, it’s not surprising. She’s always brought precision, intelligence, and purpose to everything she does—and she’s treating this transition the same way. Her passion for veterans and first responders is fueling her drive to give back on a broader scale.
“Obviously, we’ve been able to really use our voice and our platform for advocacy for veterans and our first responders, and that’s big in our household… I think that’s what’s made the wrestling success so worth it is now we have this voice and this platform to be able to give back to others.”
With other wrestlers like Jesse Ventura and Glenn “Kane” Jacobs having found success in public office, Purrazzo’s political pivot could follow a well-trodden path—just with a whole lot more grit, grace, and Virtuosa flair.
