Mercedes Moné dropped a bombshell when she revealed that Britt Baker had been suspended by The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) following an incident at San Diego Comic-Con on the July 31st episode of AEW Dynamite. Initially thought to be part of a storyline, it was later confirmed by the Wrestling Observer that Baker’s suspension was very real, stemming from an altercation involving Baker, MJF, and Alicia Atout.
During an interview with Stephanie Chase, Deonna Purrazzo was asked to share her thoughts on the incident. Purrazzo, who has been part of both AEW and TNA locker rooms, offered a broader perspective on the situation.
“Very similar,” Purrazzo said, referring to the atmosphere in both locker rooms, which she had previously described as familial.
“I think this was just one instance that sparked a lot of drama and kind of took on a life of its own. The rumor mill starts going, and things aren’t as they were. People add their two cents, and it makes it way bigger than it was. I think this was an isolated incident because everything else that I’ve experienced in this locker room is supportive, encouraging, and full of camaraderie. We just recently celebrated people’s birthdays, had birthday cakes, and sang. I feel this locker room doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves for that type of camaraderie. I don’t know what it was like before. I can only speak to my experiences, but I feel like it doesn’t get enough credit as it deserves.”
The incident in question reportedly started when Britt Baker expressed frustration about MJF within the women’s locker room. The situation escalated when MJF, whose girlfriend Alicia Atout was present in the locker room, learned about Baker’s comments. This led to confrontations between Baker and Atout, as well as between Baker and MJF.
At one point, even Will Ospreay got involved in the situation. According to one source, Baker was particularly upset with Atout for sharing the locker room conversation with MJF, allegedly leading to a heated exchange where Baker cursed at Atout and wanted her removed from the locker room.
Britt Baker returned from her storyline suspension on this week’s AEW Dynamite, putting the incident behind her as she gets back into action.
Meanwhile, Deonna Purrazzo is set to face Thunder Rosa in a Texas Bull Rope match on the August 10th episode of AEW Collision, as she continues to make her mark in the wrestling world.
