Demolition Reacts to WWE Hall of Fame News: “It’s Overwhelming” and “A Huge Thing”

Demolition is officially headed to the WWE Hall of Fame — and now Ax and Smash are speaking out about what the honor means to them.

Following the announcement that Bill “Ax” Eadie and Barry “Smash” Darsow will be inducted as part of the Class of 2026, the legendary tag team addressed the news during an appearance on the Edlow Podcast. For Ax, the moment hasn’t fully sunk in yet.

“Well, it’s a little overwhelming, to be honest with you. We just got word of it the other day, and it’s an honor because to be involved with something in our profession and be accepted into that fraternity, with all the talent that’s in the Hall, it’s humbling. There’s a great amount of talent there, and to be considered worthy to be in the Hall is a very, very big thing for us.”

Smash echoed that sentiment and revealed that fans have been asking about this moment for years.

“Yeah, just like Bill was saying, we go to a lot of signings—almost every weekend for years we’ve been doing this—and a lot of the fans keep saying, ‘When are you going to get in the Hall of Fame?’ And you never know because there are so many great tag teams. They ask us, ‘Who’s your favorite tag team?’ It’s so hard to say because they’re all our favorites. We love them all. So to suddenly get inducted into this Hall of Fame is just a huge, huge thing. We’re very excited about it.”

After decades of dominating the late-1980s tag team division, holding the WWF Tag Team Titles three times, and setting a 478-day record reign, Ax and Smash are finally getting their official recognition.

Now, with WrestleMania 42 weekend approaching, Demolition’s long-awaited Hall of Fame moment is locked in — and judging by their reaction, it’s one they don’t take lightly.
