David Finlay just cemented his place at the top of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, winning the 2025 New Japan Cup after taking down Shota Umino in a hard-fought final.

Finlay sealed the deal with Overkill, putting Umino away and securing his biggest tournament win yet. With this victory, Finlay has officially earned a shot at Hirooki Goto for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Along the way, Finlay took out Yuya Uemura and EVIL, and he also received a first-round bye in the tournament. Now, he has his sights set on championship gold, and with Goto standing in his way, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Is David Finlay about to take the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, or will Hirooki Goto shut him down? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
