David Finlay has officially arrived in AEW — and he didn’t come alone.

During the March 4, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite, Finlay made a surprise appearance following a tag team match featuring Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy against Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors.

Allin and Cassidy managed to pick up the victory over Kidd and Connors, seemingly bringing the match to a close. However, the celebration didn’t last long. Moments after the match ended, Finlay stormed the ring and launched a sudden attack on both Allin and Cassidy, catching them completely off guard.

The ambush immediately shifted the atmosphere in the arena as Finlay joined Kidd and Connors in the ring, turning what looked like a post-match moment into the birth of a new alliance. After the attack, the three men stood tall together inside the ring, making it clear that Finlay had aligned himself with Kidd and Connors moving forward.

The appearance comes just after reports surfaced about Finlay’s free agency following the expiration of his New Japan Pro-Wrestling contract. While speculation had connected him to WWE and AEW, his surprise Dynamite appearance suggests AEW may now be the place where his next chapter begins. Before the Dynamite appearance, it had been reported that WWE and Finlay had communicated previously, but he was not currently part of the company’s creative plans.

“Sources in WWE have said while there has been contact between David Finlay and WWE, he isn't factored in to creative plans at the moment.”

That situation now looks far less relevant after Finlay’s unexpected AEW debut and apparent alliance with Kidd and Connors. With Finlay now standing alongside the two members of The Dogs, AEW may have just gained a brand new faction that could quickly make an impact on the roster.
