WWE’s revival of Saturday Night’s Main Event appears set to continue later this spring, as a new report reveals when the next installment of the NBC special is expected to take place.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE has already locked in the next edition of the show for May as the company continues rolling out several of the network specials throughout the year. While discussing upcoming WWE scheduling plans, WrestleVotes shared that the event is already penciled into the company’s calendar with a potential host city also being considered.
“Sources within WWE indicate that the next Saturday Night’s Main Event is on the books and set for May 23, with the location still being finalized, but Nashville, Tennessee is currently a leading candidate to host the show.”
The report also noted that this upcoming show is part of a larger plan WWE has in place for multiple Saturday Night’s Main Event specials this year.
“This will mark the second of four scheduled Saturday Night’s Main Event specials this year on Peacock.”
The revived NBC special has been positioned as something of a middle ground in WWE’s programming structure. Rather than functioning as a full premium live event, the shows are expected to feature notable matches and appearances while still maintaining the feel of a television special.
During the discussion, WrestleVotes Radio co-host TC explained how the shows fit into WWE’s overall presentation.
“It’s that little space between a RAW and a premium live event where you’re going to get some big matches and some stars on the show, but nothing that’s going to be earth-shattering storyline-wise.”
He also pointed out that WWE has shown a pattern of placing these specials shortly before larger events on the calendar.
“They love scheduling these Saturday night events the week before the PLEs… maybe it’s a way to get people to keep their streaming subscriptions going if they want to follow the storylines.”
If the May 23 date holds, the show would serve as the second of four Saturday Night’s Main Event specials currently planned for 2026. The series returned recently as part of WWE’s effort to expand its special-event programming beyond traditional premium live events.
WWE has not officially announced the date or location yet, but Nashville reportedly sits at the top of the list as the potential host city. With WrestleMania season in full swing and several major events still ahead on WWE’s calendar, it remains to be seen how the company will stack the card for the next Saturday Night’s Main Event special.
