Darby Allin almost took his wild style to the big screen after personally reaching out to Steve-O about joining a Jackass movie.
While speaking on TMZ Inside The Ring, Darby was asked about the latest Jackass film and whether he had any involvement. The conversation started with Bam Margera’s status, and Darby explained that Bam didn’t actually film anything new for the project. He made it clear that the footage being used wasn’t recent and that Bam has been separated from the core group.
“Bam is not with them. They're just using old footage of Bam. He's not with them. He's had a falling out with them and, uh, he hasn't really talked to the people like the actual directors and everything like that. He's still mutual friends with some of them, but he's not with them. He didn't film anything new. This is all old stuff that they're going to air from the fourth movie that they filmed in.”
After addressing Bam’s situation, Darby revealed that he actually spoke to Steve-O years ago when the fourth Jackass movie was still being filmed. He didn’t hesitate to tell Steve-O exactly what he wanted.
“I talked to Steve-O probably forever ago, back when they were filming the fourth movie, right before the pandemic. And I said, ‘Yo, put me in that movie.’ And then, uh, it just like with the pandemic and everything like that. Well, it's funny, Bam's actually texting me right now. I can see it pop up. He says, ‘Come pick me up.’ I got to go pick him up.”
Darby then explained that Jackass wasn’t just entertainment for him growing up — it played a huge role in shaping his mindset long before wrestling became his career. He said his inspiration came more from skateboarding and stunt culture than from watching wrestling. He added that even though he never ended up in the movie, he already feels like he’s living that lifestyle every time he steps into AEW.
“Honestly, I would love to do anything just because I think of everything that inspired me and I wasn't really inspired by wrestling growing up. I was inspired by skateboarding and, you know, like Jackass and all those crazy shows. So, um, just to bring that into the world of wrestling was so fun. So, yeah, I just of course, you would like to do anything, but if it doesn't work out, that's amazing, too, because I'm, you know, everybody's on their own road and everything like that. So, yeah… but no, I feel like I'm living Jackass on a weekly basis on AEW.”
Darby Allin’s comments help explain why his matches often look different from everyone else’s. His approach has always leaned toward risk and unpredictability, and hearing that Jackass played such a big role in shaping his mindset makes that connection even clearer.
Even without appearing in the movie, Darby continues to carry that same reckless energy into AEW every single week, turning his matches into something that feels closer to stunt work than traditional wrestling.
