Darby Allin has long been grouped into AEW’s so-called “Four Pillars,” but he recently made it clear that he doesn’t fully agree with the label.
While speaking on TMZ Inside The Ring, Darby was asked how he compares himself to other wrestlers frequently mentioned alongside him as foundational figures in AEW. Instead of embracing the title, he explained that the company’s success came from collective effort rather than a small group. Darby shared his honest thoughts about theand why he doesn’t believe it tells the full story.
“I don't know. I really don't concern myself, honestly, too much with that term. I really don't like that term four pillars because I don't believe it takes more than four to actually get this thing up and going. But the beauty to me with being on the ground level of AEW is you could see when the company got to the highest points it was just through us — not through us as in the four pillars, but through everybody on the roster working together.”
The “Four Pillars” phrase has become widely recognized among AEW fans, often referring to Darby Allin, MJF, Sammy Guevara, and Jungle Boy. However, Darby’s comments suggest he sees AEW’s growth as something that required far more than just a few standout names.
Darby Allin’s stance adds to the ongoing discussion about how AEW built its identity and which stars truly helped shape its success.
