Darby Allin has provided an update on his condition after being officially removed from the AEW Continental Classic tournament due to injury.
On the December 6 episode of AEW Collision, it was confirmed that Allin was out of the tournament following his legitimate injury during the November 26 Dynamite match against Kevin Knight. Allin had been hospitalized and under evaluation for several days before AEW made it official on air. In a promo that night, Allin addressed the situation head-on, confirming Jack Perry would take his place in the Gold League.
“The AEW doctor is taking me out of this Continental Classic, which is fine. If you want to save Darby from Darby, that’s fine. I don’t give a sht. I hear Jack Perry’s taking my spot. I’ve never seen eye to eye with Jack Perry, but if you’re taking my spot, man, just go on. Win the whole thing. I hope you do.”*
As of the latest update, Allin is no longer in the hospital and is recovering at home. Bryan Alvarez shared the following during Wrestling Observer Radio:
“He was in the hospital for a while, but they did clear him because he ended up going home. So he can travel. He’s out of the hospital.”
Now, Allin himself has provided a new statement during an interview with 93.7 The Fan, letting fans know he’s in great shape—just not cleared to wrestle yet.
“I feel a million bucks right now, I’m not lying. I’m just not medically cleared. They’re saving me from me, which is fine. Which is good but at the end of the day, I feel amazing right now.”
There’s still no confirmed timeline for Darby Allin’s return to the ring, but his spirits—and attitude—are clearly in top form.
Jack Perry now officially competes in the Gold League alongside Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, PAC, Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight. It remains to be seen how AEW handles the scoring situation with Perry stepping in mid-tournament.
