Darby Allin didn’t sugarcoat his thoughts about MJF, and he made it clear he believes the AEW star’s personality is more performance than reality.

While speaking on TMZ Inside The Ring, Darby was asked about MJF’s title run and how he views him as champion. The conversation quickly turned into a comparison between how each of them approaches wrestling, especially when it comes to staying true to themselves.

Darby explained that since joining AEW, his goal has always been to reach the top without changing who he is. He then contrasted that mindset with how he sees MJF’s character, suggesting that MJF hides his real personality behind an act.

“It's strange because my whole thing with AEW since day one has always been to make it to the top of the mountain while not having to change anything. And I feel like I haven't had to change a single thing since I've been here. The way I live my life in the ring and outside the ring, nobody's ever told me to change."

"Then I see a guy like Max where I feel like it's all an act. It's not really MJF. It never was. He's like putting up these walls because he's afraid that maybe if the real Max was shown that it wouldn't be good enough and the people wouldn't like him. So, he's put on this act of being this over-the-top bastard of a heel. So, I don't know. There's just a lot that goes into it and I would love to be at the very top of AEW as myself and knowing that I didn't have to change a single thing.”

Darby’s comments stand out because he and MJF have been connected since AEW’s early days. Both have grown into major stars, and their rivalry history makes any comments between them carry extra weight.

His remarks also show how strongly he feels about staying authentic in wrestling, especially as he continues to push himself toward the top of the company. Darby Allin didn’t hold back here, and comments like this could easily add more tension if the two cross paths again in AEW.
