Danhausen chose the night before Elimination Chamber to start tweeting about freedom — and that’s all it took to send speculation into overdrive.

With his AEW contract reportedly expiring around February 2026 and WWE already rumored to have interest, Danhausen took to Twitter on February 27 and posted a series of cryptic messages that strongly suggest his time in AEW is over.

The first tweet? A photo of a song titled “Freedom Slam” by a band called Freedom. Not long after that, he followed it up with another image — this time of Genie from Disney’s Aladdin becoming free.

Elimination Chamber takes place on February 28, and there’s already heavy speculation surrounding the “mystery box” angle planned for the Premium Live Event. With WWE reportedly believing Danhausen would thrive in NXT if he becomes a free agent, the freedom-themed tweets immediately fueled talk that he could be the big reveal.

Danhausen hasn’t appeared on AEW television at all in 2025, though he’s remained active on the independent scene. Previous reports noted he asked AEW not to extend his contract with injury time when it was set to expire last summer. Now, with his deal believed to be up around this exact timeframe, these posts feel anything but random.

If this is the end of Danhausen in AEW, he’s certainly leaning into it in very Danhausen fashion. And if he does show up in WWE — especially tied to a mystery reveal — the internet is going to explode.

Is this just clever trolling, or is Danhausen about to make a very nice, very evil debut on a major WWE stage? Let us know what you think.
