Danhausen’s his arrival in WWE is already creating plenty of discussion across the wrestling world, and Booker T believes the unusual character could turn into a major business success if the company plays its cards right.
The former AEW star made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber 2026 in Chicago, emerging from a mystery crate before quickly becoming part of the conversation on WWE programming. While some fans are still wondering how Danhausen’s supernatural and comedic persona will translate on the main roster, Booker T believes the character has serious potential.
Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer explained that Danhausen’s presentation could easily translate into strong merchandise sales if WWE leans into the gimmick.
“I’m not going to try to sit in speculate or anything like that, other than you know, we definitely know he could be used on AAA shows. Those guysm they got a lot of gimmicks over there. So he’ll fit right in, you know, to the AAA mode. How far are you going to go on the main roster? And you know, who you got to match him up with? You know what? What are we really trying to get out of the Dan housing character? I know it definitely could become a merchandising machine.”
Booker T also addressed the criticism that sometimes comes with comedic or over-the-top characters in wrestling. In his view, variety has always been part of what makes the industry work, and removing the humor would take away a key element of the business.
“Wrestling is wrestling. And when you take Danhausen characters and funny stuff out of professional wrestling, you kind of like lose the, you know, the real meaning of what wrestling truly, really is in my book, because wrestling is to be funny sometimes, sometimes it’s serious, you know, sometimes you got so many different elements. So I’m not gonna, I’m not gonna, you know, pre-conceive what we’re trying to get out of Danhausen. I’m gonna sit back and watch and let this thing play out.”
Danhausen didn’t take long to make an impact after arriving. On the March 2 episode of Monday Night Raw, he crossed paths with Dominik Mysterio backstage and placed what he called a “curse” on the Judgment Day member.
Later that same night, Mysterio lost the Intercontinental Championship to Penta, leading many fans to jokingly credit the loss to Danhausen’s curse. The moment quickly fueled conversation online as WWE continues to explore how the character will fit into its weekly programming moving forward.
