D-Von Dudley toughed it out in what turned out to be a far more physical clash than expected at Bound for Glory, when Team 3D faced off against The Hardys in a tables match that left both teams battered—and one legend injured.

During an appearance on Duke Loves Rasslin, D-Von revealed he suffered a shoulder injury almost immediately into the match. The incident happened while executing the 3D finisher within the first 30 seconds, as he tried to protect Matt Hardy during the move. Instead of falling flat on his back, D-Von altered his landing—and paid the price.

“I actually jarred my shoulder coming down on the 3D in the first 30 seconds of the match. I jarred my shoulder trying to protect Matt instead of just falling flat on my back. I went to my side and came down on my elbow, which shot up into my shoulder so badly that the next day I couldn’t move my arm.”

Despite the injury, D-Von fought through the pain and finished the match. But he wasn’t the only one who paid the price. Jeff Hardy also walked away wounded after trying to protect D-Von during a dangerous ladder spot. That gesture left Hardy with a nasty gash on the back of his head.

The bout ended with The Hardys defeating Team 3D, effectively retiring D-Von and Bully Ray from in-ring action. Still, D-Von hasn’t completely shut the door on one more return—if the offer is lucrative enough. Injured or not, D-Von’s grit in pushing through the pain is exactly why fans continue to hold him in legendary status.

Were you surprised by how physical the final Team 3D match turned out? Should D-Von consider one last return if the price is right? Drop your thoughts below.
