D-Von Dudley has now explained why he is wrestling one more match in TNA before retiring for good.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, D-Von Dudley explained why he decided to compete in one more match. After he and Bubba Ray left WWE in 2016, D-Von still felt like he had more to give. While Bubba continued wrestling in places like ROH, D-Von worked backstage as a producer in WWE for seven years.

Despite that, he still felt the urge to wrestle again and knew he needed to have one final match, either on his own or as part of Team 3D.

“Some of you are probably wondering, why am I doing this? Why am I doing this one more match? In 2016, when we did our departure from the WWE, I still had some left in the tank.

And although Bubba went out there and went to places like ROH, me on the other hand, I was a producer backstage for WWE and I did that for seven years. But there was always that itch that I felt that I had to scratch. And that was to get back in the ring and have my last match, whether it be by myself or representing one half of the greatest tag team in the history of this business, the Dudley Boys.Team 3D.”

D-Von felt that having his last match in TNA was the perfect way to close his in-ring career. He wanted to do it for the fans who supported them over the years and for his kids, so they could see him doing something he loved.

Dudley shared that he felt physically great and spiritually grounded, trusting that God was guiding him through the moment. He saw this match as a way to say thank you and give the fans one last memorable performance. He also made it clear this would be his final match in the ring.

“So, what better place than to have my last match, my last hurrah. And I will say this — it will be my last. What better place than TNA.

Let me just say this. What does it mean for me to go out there and have one more match? Well, first and foremost, I’m doing it in front of you — the fans that made us, the fans that made us who we are today. I’m doing it for my kids. They get a chance to see their dad do something that he loved and they could say they were there.

I feel great. I’m going to do great. And as far as I’m concerned, I’m a very spiritual person and you guys know this. God is in my corner. I will let go and let God and let him move me and guide me, because there’s only one thing that can stop me and that’s the man above. And right now, he’s making this possible for me to do this.

So again, it’s my way of saying thank you to the fans for putting us where we are today and being able to give that one last hurrah for you. And I think Bubba put it best — that will be the last time you hear it in the ring again. And of course… oh my brother, testify. That will be it.”

Bully Ray challenged the Hardys to one final showdown for the Tag Team Titles at Bound for Glory, as Ray will team up with D-Von to take on the Hardys one last time. Therefore, we’ll have to see how D-Von and Bully Ray will fare against Matt and Jeff Hardy in this highly anticipated match.
