D‑Von Dudley is done letting speculation control the narrative, especially after seeing the wrong people dragged into something they had nothing to do with.

On Episode 54 of Devon & The Duke, the WWE Hall of Famer addressed the fallout from earlier comments where he spoke about experiencing racism during his WWE career. Because he didn’t initially name the person involved, online speculation spiraled. Many assumed he was referring to John Laurinaitis or Michael Hayes. D‑Von made it clear that neither man was involved — and that the mischaracterization hurt real people. He explained that part of his frustration came from seeing innocent names get attached to something they didn’t deserve.

“No, I was just telling it like it is. Because when I didn’t mention names, people assumed that it was Laurinaitis. A lot of people assumed that it was Michael Hayes, because of what happened with him. And I was setting the record straight: no, it wasn’t him.”

D‑Von went further and actually defended Laurinaitis, explaining that he played a supportive role during a critical point in his career.

“He actually helped me as a producer. He was there for me. He did everything possible to make sure the transition from talent to producer was smooth.”

As the conversation continued, D‑Von confirmed that the person he was referring to in his original racism story was Jim Ross. While he didn’t revisit every detail of that experience, he made it clear that the speculation damaged people who didn’t deserve to be associated with it.

For D-Von, setting the record straight wasn’t about stirring more drama—it was about protecting those who didn’t deserve the backlash and finally putting the truth on record.

What do you think about D-Von naming Jim Ross in this context? Does this change how you view WWE’s backstage history? Sound off below—we want to hear your take.
