D-Von Dudley is opening up about a serious fear — and it’s centered around school shootings and the safety of the next generation.

During an appearance on the DukeLovesRasslin podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer took a serious turn in the conversation, reflecting on how his outlook on life has changed because of what he sees happening in the world today. He made it clear that ideas people used to talk about casually — like the “end of days” — now feel much more real to him.

“We all hear people say the end of days are coming, that God is coming back and this and that. They’ve said that for years, but now when I begin to think about it—when they say that now—they’re telling the truth.”

From there, D-Von got more personal, explaining how those fears have directly impacted how he thinks about his own family and the idea of having more children. He admitted that the current state of the world has made him hesitant to expand his family any further.

“The world is so bad right now. I don’t want to bring another kid into this world because I don’t want them to have to deal with this. I feel guilty as it is to have the kid that I have now, because they have to deal with this.”

He then painted a very real scenario that many parents fear — dropping their child off at school and worrying about whether they’ll be safe. D-Von noted how that kind of anxiety has become part of everyday life for parents.

“It’s like, how terrified am I to have to know that one day I take my child to school, and I get a phone call saying, ‘Mr. Hughes, there’s been a shooting at the school.’ When did all of this start to happen?”

Continuing on that point, he pointed out how schools themselves have changed, pointing out the increased security presence and how unusual that would have seemed years ago.

“It’s like now your kids aren’t safe to go to school. There are police officers with rifles and machine guns guarding elementary school students. It’s like, what? You’ve got to be kidding me.”

D-Von didn’t stop at schools. He also brought up how even places traditionally seen as safe havens — like churches — now require visible security, something he clearly finds troubling. He wrapped up his thoughts by looking back at how different things used to be, questioning when and how such drastic changes became the norm.

“You can’t even go to church now without having a cop. The church I go to has police. A place of worship—now you have to worry about getting shot. You have to worry about some nutcase coming in and shooting up the place. It’s like, what the hell happened? We didn’t have to worry about mass shootings.”

This shows a different side of D-Von Dudley — one focused on real-life fears and the challenges many parents are dealing with today. It’s not about storylines or matches this time — it’s about safety, uncertainty, and what the future looks like for the next generation.
