The creative mind behind the CM Punk and Usos confrontation on WWE Raw this week has now been revealed — and it reportedly came straight from Triple H.

According to Dave Meltzer in the March 13, 2026 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was credited internally for coming up with the segment that kept the CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns storyline alive despite Reigns not appearing on the show.

The moment aired during the March 9 episode of Raw at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle and served as the closing segment of the broadcast. With Roman Reigns absent from the event, WWE needed a way to keep the feud moving forward — and Meltzer says that’s where Triple H’s idea came in. Meltzer explained that the segment was specifically designed to bridge the gap in the storyline and maintain interest in the feud until Reigns returns to television.

“Levesque was the one given credit for the idea for the Usos and Punk segment to bridge the storyline this week with Reigns not being there and to build interest for when Reigns returns the next week.”

The segment itself saw CM Punk come to the ring to address the audience, only to be confronted by Jimmy and Jey Uso. The Usos took issue with Punk’s earlier comments referencing Roman Reigns’ father, Sika, and demanded that he apologize.

Fans inside the arena began chanting “say you’re sorry,” and Punk briefly appeared to comply before turning the apology into another jab at Reigns. Instead of backing down, Punk claimed he was sorry that Reigns had treated his own family and The Bloodline poorly for years without ever apologizing. The exchange quickly escalated, ending with The Usos shoving Punk to the mat before walking away, leaving the tension unresolved as Raw went off the air.

The segment kept the storyline active even without Reigns physically appearing, which was reportedly the exact purpose behind the creative decision. With WrestleMania 42 approaching, the feud between CM Punk and Roman Reigns continues to build momentum — and this week’s segment ensured the rivalry stayed front and center until Reigns returns.

Do you think Triple H’s idea to use The Usos to continue the feud was the right move while Roman Reigns was absent? Or should WWE have handled the segment differently? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
