Corey Graves hasn’t wrestled in years due to concussion issues, but the longtime WWE commentator made it clear that stepping back into the ring isn’t completely off the table if the right moment comes along.
After transitioning from an in-ring career to commentary nearly a decade ago, Graves has built a reputation as one of WWE’s most reliable voices. Still, recent physical moments — including taking bumps from Brock Lesnar — have sparked renewed conversation about whether he could compete again.
Graves confirmed that he has already received medical clearance in recent years during a conversation with TV Insider, explaining that returning to competition is technically possible, even if it’s not something he’s actively chasing right now.
“I got medically cleared a couple of years ago. I started to get back in shape. A lot of things changed within the company as far as everything. So, I don’t foresee that happening in the foreseeable future if at all.”
While he acknowledged that stepping back into wrestling shape would require major commitment, Graves didn’t completely shut the door on the idea of competing again. Instead, he admitted that the biggest obstacle right now is the demanding lifestyle required to maintain in-ring condition.
“One major reason being is I don’t feel like staying in ring shape because it’s a lot of work. I have the luxury of wearing a suit on TV. I like not watching what I eat.”
Even with that hesitation, Graves made it clear that the right storyline or opportunity could change everything. He admitted that if something compelling came along — whether in WWE or through his work connected to AAA — he would seriously consider stepping back into action.
“Never say never. I think if the right opportunity presented itself, whether that be in WWE or AAA, I would probably jump at the chance. At the same time, it’s not something I’m actively pursuing at the moment.”
For now, Graves remains focused on his broadcasting duties, balancing commentary roles across WWE programming while continuing to expand his influence behind the microphone. But with medical clearance already secured and the door still slightly open, the possibility of seeing him compete again remains a talking point worth watching.
