Cody Rhodes wants to turn up the heat on WWE’s live event schedule—and he’s not holding back about it.

During his What Do You Want to Talk About? podcast featuring The Undertaker, Rhodes opened up about the joy he finds in untelevised house shows and pushed hard for WWE to do more of them. As the former Undisputed WWE Champion, he’s not just talking about nostalgia—he sees real value in what happens when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Rhodes recalled a recent show in Palm Springs and explained why he’s pushing for more dates like it:

“Palm Springs—this show we did that wasn’t televised, was just the most wonderful crowd, and the crowd was hot, and just magical stuff happened. I really want WWE to continue to do more and more and more of these. And I know that’s not necessarily good for all the talent, but that’s when magic happens.”

Rhodes has long been a proponent of putting in the work and doing the grind that built WWE’s empire. His sentiment is clear: if WWE wants to create unforgettable moments, it needs to embrace the old-school house show mentality.

“Magic happens when you have to pull something out of your hat in a moment when there's no net underneath you.”

He’s not asking others to do what he won’t. Rhodes is actively doing live shows across the country and continues to see them as a key part of his own evolution as a performer.

Cody’s perspective echoes a generational philosophy that fans remember from the territory days—work more, connect deeper, and let the ring tell the story, not the camera. Are we ready to see WWE double down on the grind? Let us know what you think.
