Cody Rhodes isn’t shying away from the workload that comes with being WWE Champion. If anything, he’s embracing it — and making it clear he believes nobody else on the roster is doing what he’s doing right now.

During a conversation on Busted Open Radio, Rhodes was praised for constantly staying active outside the ring, juggling media appearances, interviews, and fan engagement while still carrying the pressure of being champion. The discussion turned to whether all of that extra work is truly necessary, especially when compared to past champions who operated differently.

Rhodes responded by making it clear that while he enjoys the responsibilities that come with the role, he also understands that championship status ultimately comes down to performance inside the ring.

“So I don't want to be a downer on your question here, but is it important that I do all this stuff? Yes, it's very important.”

He continued by explaining that being active outside the ring is valuable, but the real decision about who holds the title still happens between the ropes.

“I like doing this stuff. And I think certain pro wrestlers and WWE superstars have now got in the habit of going, ‘Hey, I'm doing all the extra stuff. I'm doing all this. I should represent the company.’ The reality is bell to bell is who decides who the champion is.”

Rhodes also referenced the reign of Roman Reigns as an example of how different champions can take different approaches to appearances and media obligations, noting that selective appearances created a unique sense of importance around Roman’s title run.

“When Roman had this historic reign, you got both. He was doing everything and then he was doing nothing. And we'd see him when we'd see him and there was a specialness to it.”

Still, Rhodes made it clear that his approach is different, and he believes his demanding schedule sets him apart from others currently competing at the top level. He credited advice from Paul Heyman while explaining why he takes pride in maintaining such a heavy workload.

“I like doing this because I think — and I heard this from again a friend of Bully and mine — I heard this from Mr. Heyman. One of the things that I have that nobody else has, even men much younger than me, is no one has can do or has done my schedule.”

Rhodes then delivered the statement that summed up his mindset as champion, making it clear he sees his relentless pace as a defining part of who he is in WWE right now.

“No one in the current mix can do it like I'm doing it. So this is part of it. This I learn from these moments. This is absolutely part of it.”

As WrestleMania 42 approaches, Rhodes continues to present himself as a champion who isn’t slowing down, balancing the physical demands of wrestling with the responsibility of representing WWE across multiple platforms. His comments show confidence in the role he’s built for himself, while also reinforcing the idea that being champion means carrying the company everywhere — not just inside the ring.
