Cody Rhodes’ growth as the #1 babyface in WWE didn’t just happen in a day, and many have compared him to John Cena for a lot of reasons. However, Rhodes has now revealed that he and Cena have had backstage disagreements over Rhodes’ authenticity in WWE.

While speaking on Pardon My Take, Cody Rhodes talked about his relationship with John Cena. He revealed one of the biggest disagreements he has had with John Cena, both behind the scenes and on camera.

Rhodes noted that Cena believes that Rhodes is not as authentic as he was during his career. However, Rhodes defended himself as he feels confident in who he is and believes he has built a strong track record.

“One of the big disagreements John Cena and I have had—and we’ve had this disagreement behind the scenes, backstage and right in front of the camera—is that he feels I’m not authentic enough, or at least not as authentic as he was. At this point, I’m pretty confident in who I am and what I’ve proven. I feel like I’ve got a proven track record.”

Rhodes then talked about the challenges of winning over every fan, emphasizing that not everyone will like you. Using his match against Kevin Owens as an example, he acknowledged Owens’ strong fan base and overall reputation.

While most of the crowd booed, there were always a few unexpected reactions. Rhodes explained that in wrestling, you can’t win over every single person, and sometimes, you just have to let it go.

“You can’t be a hack about it. And maybe that’s what some of them who don’t like you—maybe that’s the reason. You can’t get them all. They may not like you.

When I was wrestling Kevin Owens, he has a great fan base, just great equity in general. Most people booed, but every now and then, you’d hear something wild. You just have to let it go. You can’t get them all, you know?”

Cody Rhodes and John Cena had a war of words on the March 31 episode of RAW and they will face each other at WrestleMania 41, with Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Title on the line.

Cody Rhodes and John Cena’s rivalry is getting more intense since Cena believes Cody isn’t as authentic as him. Their WrestleMania match won’t just be about the title, it will be about proving who truly deserves to be the top star in WWE. Therefore, we’ll have to see who will win in the end.
