Cody Rhodes Says He and Brandi Got “Dark Knight” Treatment After AEW Exit

Cody and Brandi Rhodes parted ways with AEW back in 2022 after being an integral part for three years. While there was a lot of backlash from fans over their departure, it appears Cody Rhodes believes he and Brandi Rhodes weren’t portrayed in the best way imaginable.

While speaking on the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Cody and Brandi Rhodes talked about their departure from AEW back in 2022. The American Nightmare said people portrayed them in a very dark and dramatic way, kind of like The Dark Knight, as he felt they were rewritten.

“We’re not gonna get too far into it but when we left the alternative promotion, we were also slightly rewritten… were portrayed very Dark Knight-esque.”

Brandi Rhodes then said she actually liked that image, comparing herself to a wicked stepmother, saying it made her look more interesting, as she said, “No. Believe it all for me. Let the darkness in. Just enhances my beauty. I’m like the wicked stepmother or something.”

Many people also believe that Cody Rhodes leaving AEW was the start of the company’s downfall since he was one of the founding members of the company, but a lot has happened in the three years since he left.

Even though there was drama when they left AEW, Cody Rhodes has done really well in WWE after returning in 2022. He became a top star and held the Undisputed WWE Championship for a year and fans really wouldn’t have it any other way for him.
