Cody Rhodes knows exactly what kind of reaction he’s walking into as WrestleMania 42 approaches, and he isn’t letting the crowd reactions shake him — even when they cheer the man he’s set to face.

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Cody addressed the growing fan support for Randy Orton despite everything that has happened between them in their storyline rivalry. With Orton gaining loud reactions from crowds, the topic came up about whether that kind of response gets under Cody’s skin.

Rhodes admitted that earlier in his career, fan reactions might have hit him differently, but he’s learned to see things from a bigger-picture perspective now that he’s established himself as a top star in WWE.

He explained that fan reactions are part of what makes wrestling work, and he has no interest in trying to control how people respond — even if they choose to support the man standing across from him.

“I don't take it personally. I think maybe if I was younger I did. And certainly, you know, there's no absolute in that. I'm sure some things kind of slip through the armor a bit and you feel it. But my thought in terms of fans today more than ever is that we are out there and whatever their emotional need is, if they need to cheer for you, if they need to cheer for him, if they need to yell at you, if they need— I can't put a governor on that and I will not.”

Rhodes continued by explaining that he believes fans should react however they feel in the moment, even if that means backing Orton as he continues his pursuit of another world title.

“Tully Blanchard rules in terms of for me when he'd say loudest the longest. I can't be angry at them. Whatever it is they need. If they're cheering for Randy as he seeks 15 and even with the things he did, okay, that's— I'm not there to try and tell you you're wrong or right. There's no wrong way to be a fan. So right now it hasn't got to me. I'll be honest. Sometimes maybe it will, but right now, no.”

With WrestleMania 42 drawing closer and the tension between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton continuing to build, fan reactions could play a major role in shaping the atmosphere once they finally meet in the ring. Whether cheers fall in Cody’s favor or not, he’s made it clear he plans to stay locked in on the fight ahead.
